This reference book should be read by all those buying self-help books
By Kindle Customer
There are so many self-help books available that choosing one is itself a problem. Many self-help books are not worth reading and it is frustrating and a waste of money to buy them. The authors of this reference have done a great job selecting the best available self-help books and giving a short summary of them. Not only the most useful books have been evaluated but many commonly available books have also been reviewed and, if necessary, noted as being wanting - goodby to our friend Dr Wayne Dwyer. Just because a book is listed here as being valuable however does not mean that it will be suitable for yourself. See my earlier review of Get Out of Your Mind and Into Your Life, which was rated highly but I criticized. This reference book should be read by all those buying self-help books and in need of a guide to assist them to make better choices in the titles they buy.

Incredibly valuable resource
By Amazon Customer
This is a book that just summarizes other books, but it is nonetheless a great book itself. This book has led me to other books, like Man's Search for Meaning, that have changed my life. Maybe just as valuable is that this book will steer you away from crappy books. I wish I could give this book 10 stars.

This is a gem. Get one!
By A Curious Reader
There is a plethora of self-help books on the market nowadays, but it is not necessarily a good thing! As a psychotherapist, I can say with certainty that most of these books have no scientific foundation and a significant number of them are mere exaggeration of some personal experiences that can't be replicated, not to mention most of the authors have no formal education of the field at all. In the midst of all this, which causes more confusion for readers, Self-Help That Works is a gem! The authors have been meticulous in reviewing a long list of books, films, and online resources and selecting the best and most useful ones. I noticed that some of the tremendously reliable books are mentioned and recommended for readers and that adds to the validity and usefulness of this book. Another beautiful thing the authors have done is to provide a list of resources for each section that are NOT RECOMMENDED. That helps save a lot of time and money while browsing for resources and not spending your energy on the so-called resources that are useless and unreliable. I have already recommended it to my co-workers and they're very excited about it.
