For Those Interested in Building Their Own Observatory

If you own a large telescope, you'll want an observatory for it so you won't have to set it up every time you want to use it. (You know what I mean!) If you have plenty of money, there are many nice observatories to choose from, but if you are on a budget, then building a roll-off roof observatory is probably your best option for utility and cost.

Hick's book is based to a large extent on his own observatory, but the general principles and advice that he gives can be transferred to other designs. The book is well-written, clear and with pictures and drawings. I took off one star because it is focused on one design - the author's own observatory, but that should not deter anyone that is interested in the topic. His design serves as an example to start at. If you are considering possibly building your own roll-off roof observatory then this book should be on your shelf. (You should also check out [...] for more information on roll-off roofs.)

Observatory review

This is a great source of information about the subject. It is well illustrated and the text correctly references the pictures. There is helpful information about location, design, and other things you might not have though about. I highly reccomend this book to anyone considering building a backyard observatory. It also comes with a CD that contains all the illustrations in the text along with detailed plans for construction.

READ BEFORE YOU BUILD

If you tire of setting up all the time, you'll opt for an observatory. That means a roll-off, unless you live in the tundra and want a dome's protection from winds in the wintertime. Roll-offs are cheap, easy to construct and allow star-hopping.
I've had two built - the second by a contractor using this book and it is a joy.
If you explore online, and anybody planning an observatory is going to do that, you will find that despite the copyright, this entire book can be downloaded from a (Red) Chinese source. Don't lose your soul.

Die existierenden Ausarbeitungen fanden zumeist nur wenig Beachtung, wurden erst gar nicht veröffentlicht oder entstanden als Nebenprodukte.
Im Rahmen der folgenden Arbeit werden daher die bisherigen Erkenntnisse zusammengeführt und im Hinblick auf die Wirkungsmöglichkeiten von Organisationen erweitert.
Bisherige Ausarbeitungen gehen nämlich i.d.R. von einem zweiseitigen Initiativrecht beim Beginn mit intimer Kommunikation aus. D.h.: Beide Flirtbeteiligten können den ersten Schritt machen. Dies ist allerdings gar nicht immer der Fall. So kommt es auch vor, dass dieses Verhältnis einseitig liegt, also nur einer der Flirtenden den ersten Schritt tun kann.
Dieses einseitige Initiativrecht wird vorrangig durch Organisationen geschaffen (wenn es denn geschaffen wird). Sie können die Möglichkeiten ihrer Mitglieder durch formale Regeln beschränken und somit auch in das Flirtgeschehen eingreifen.
Besonders gut lässt sich dies vor allem an Gastronomiebetrieben beobachten.
Während sich bei der Annäherung, sowohl zwischen Bekannten als auch zwischen Unbekannten, das Problem der Initiative (also welcher von beiden den ersten Schritt wagt) auf beiden Seiten einstellt (beide können die Initiative ergreifen) liegt die Möglichkeit zur Initiative in diesem Sonderfall nur beim Gast.
Geflirtet wird zwischen Kellnern und Gästen aber trotzdem, auch wenn es verboten sein sollte. Der Kellner verfügt immer noch indirekte Mitteilungsmöglichkeiten. Abschließend wird daher noch auf

Informative for those who have no experience with special ed students

If you're new to the special education world, this book would then be a good read for you. It's simple, opens each secion with a quick story to match the disabilities in the chapter, then goes into breaking down what you need to do for children with disability need from you and what you need to do (leagally) for them.

This isn't a tell all book, meaning, pick up more specialized special ed books as needed, but this book is a great start with very helpful, useful, and practical information.

This is an excellent, inexpensive overview of Special Education impairements/disorders. It concentrates heavily on the 5 forms of Autism. It breaks down the other impairments in a way a general education teacher can understand for IEP's. I think all teachers should have a copy of this. An amazing history of the...well...history of caviar. As well as a forward look at the future of caviar and the sturgeon that produce it!
Interesting recipes, a light sense of humor and really cool period pictures as well as stories all masterfully strung together by what is clearly a talented editor and author.
