About the Author
Mervyn Millar was born in London in 1974. He is a theatre director and puppetry specialist. He has provided puppetry to major companies including the RSC, National Theatre Studio, NT Education, theatre-rites, Lyric Hammersmith, Bristol Old Vic, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Liverpool Playhouse and BAC. He has created and directed installation and site-specific shows for wireframe and with Kazuko Hohki, and directed new writing and classics for the Steam Industry and others. Mervyn is the Artistic Director of Handspring UK.

Must Read if you Saw the Play

I took my daughter and wife to see this play. Was very skeptical about how they could make a life sized puppet of a horse work without it being comical. I was amazed. We all loved the play, so when I saw there's was a "How'd they do that?" book, I had to buy it. We all loved the book. Very well written and it had pictures (the best part!). Check it out if you're a War Horse buff or just interested in "suspension of disbelief" stuff. Neat.

Good Read on creating the play.

What a book on the development of the play War Horse and the design and manipulating of the horses. Also got the dvd which makes a good combination into the organization and development of the show. Would like a dvd of the actual play as performed by the original cast.

Good book if you wnat to learn the backstage info on WAR HORSE, this is the book to buy. Short book but full of a lot of info on the making of the puppet and play!
